MANILA, Philippines – Dolphy's son Eric Quizon on Saturday said he wishes the commotion involving talent manager Annabelle Rama hadn't happened at his father's wake.
But if his father were still alive, Eric said the comedy king would have shrugged off the incident.
"If my dad were alive, [sasabihin niya,] 'Si Tita Annabelle talaga, o,' ganu’n lang sasabihin niya," Eric told members of the media at the Heritage Park, where Dolphy's wake is being held until Sunday.
On Friday night, the feisty talent manager was caught on camera trying to hit Alcid with a walking stick.
The incident, which Rama claims was planned by Alcid and his companions, took place at a dining hall some distance away from the chapel, where the wake was being held.
"How I wish na hindi nangyari, hindi nangyari dito," Eric said, "although hindi naman talaga nangyari siya sa loob ng funeral home. Doon sa may dining area. [Pero] wala tayong magagawa. Siguro ganyang lang talaga ang buhay natin sa industriyang ito."
Eric clarified that Rama has nonetheless apologized and that his family has accepted the talent manager's apology.
Pero si Tita Annabelle naman, she personally apologized to me at nag-text siya sa akin. Sabi niya, 'Pasensya ka na Eric ah, 'di ko lang na-contain 'yung sarili ko, kaya nagawa ko 'yun. Sana mapatawad niyo ako.'
"Sabi ko, 'Tita Annabelle, naiintindihan namin, sana hindi nangyari, pero naiintindihan ka namin, pinapatawad ka na namin,'" Eric said.
