Robert Blair Carabuena, the Philip Morris human resources executive
who was caught on video assaulting an MMDA traffic enforcer, on Thursday
read out a public apology at the MMDA headquarters, and in the presence
of the agency's officers and personnel.
Notwithstanding the apology, MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said that a case of direct assault filed against Carabuena will push through, according to a tweet by MMDA Traffic Director Yves Gonzalez.
Carabuena figured in a confrontation with MMDA traffic enforcer Saturnino Fabros on August 11, and was caught by a passing TV5 news crew hitting Fabros at least twice on the head. The video went viral, and Carabuena was vilified by Filipinos for his actions. He was suspended by Philip Morris for an unspecified duration, while the MMDA filed charges against him on behalf of Fabros.
